June 15, 2023 Fishing Report

June continues to be an exciting time for fishing enthusiasts at Los Suenos, Costa Rica. The waters are ripe for fishing, and the abundance of marine life inshore and offshore makes fishing here a major attraction. During the second half of the month of June, anglers can expect to encounter a variety of fish species, including Dorado, Tuna, Roosterfish, and Snapper, among many others. The warm weather and calm waters make it an ideal time for fishing, and there's no better place to experience this than out of Los Suenos Marina! In this fishing report, we'll explore the different types of fish that are abundant inshore and offshore during this time of year.

Mid-June Fishing Weather 🌦️🌡️🌴

The weather in Los Suenos Costa Rica during the second half of June is nice and warm. On land, the average temperature is around 85°F. Inshore, temperatures hover at around 82°F, and offshore temperatures generally stay around 80°F. The Pacific Ocean tends to have calm waters during this time, providing excellent conditions for fishing trips. However, we’re getting deeper into the rainy season at this point, and skies are mostly overcast, with some sunny days and rain showers picking up in the afternoons. During this time of year, it’s not uncommon to experience fairly regular showers or thunderstorms, particularly in the later part of the month. Since we fish bright and early, our charter boats are usually headed toward shore or already docked by the time the rains start in the afternoon. You don’t get tropical rainforests without the rain - so, that's the tradeoff! All of our captains are US Coast Guard certified, so there’s never a worry about safety. Anglers shouldn’t be too impacted by it while we’re out on the water, but you should be aware that June vacations in Costa Rica are always dotted with a chance of rain showers here and there.

Offshore Bites 🐟⚓🛥️

Anglers fishing offshore in Los Suenos Costa Rica during the second half of June can expect to encounter a diverse range of fish species. Tuna, in particular, tend to be abundant during this time of year, with Yellowfin making a popular catch. Other types of fish that can be caught offshore right now include Dorado (also known as Mahi-Mahi), Sailfish, Marlin (both Blue and Black), and Wahoo, (both in and off). These fish can be caught using a variety of techniques, such as trolling with live bait or artificial lures. With plenty of species to target, offshore fishing in Los Suenos during the latter part of June can be an exhilarating and rewarding experience for any angler.

Inshore fishing in Los Suenos during mid-late June offers a wide variety of fish species to target. Roosterfish, a popular gamefish species in the area, tend to be plentiful during this time, along with Snook and Snapper. Jack Crevalle are also a common catch inshore, known for their strong fighting ability. Anglers can use a variety of techniques to target these fish, including live bait fishing, bottom fishing, and casting with lures. Inshore fishing provides a great alternative to offshore fishing, with a different set of challenges and rewards.
