Calm Flat and Fertile Ocean

Green Season is picking up here in Costa Rica, and the full day off shore sportsfishing out of Los Suenos Marina couldn't be better. Conditions are great, and we have been catching several sailfish on every trip. Marlin are in bountiful supply, as are Mahi Mahi and Yellow Fin Tuna, which should continue to inhabit in our calm pacific waters from May through early July.

During this time of year, the Yellow Fins are typically in the 40-80 lbs. range. These delicious fish are attracted to live bait and casting poppers on spinning gear, which is why it is important to select a charter with top of the line equipment and a knowledgeable captain and crew.

We start trolling early in the morning out of Los Suenos Marina, keeping an eye out for floating logs and drift wood. This is where dense levels of bait fish can be found, including Bonitos, Jacks, Runners, Tripletails and smaller Yellowfin. Just catching the bait can be fantastically fun, so we will enjoy ourselves for a while here before heading out into the deeper waters.

In addition to bait fish, we have also been finding Mahi Mahi ranging in size from small to large, and even the occasional Wahoo and Marlin nearby, on the hunt for the bait fish themselves. Fishing these fertile grounds provides both entertainment as well as the fish we need to attract our big game sportsfish as we head off shore.

Water and weather conditions are great - the fertile ocean is calm and flat! Contact one of our agents today and make your dreams of big game, Los Suenos sportsfishing a reality.
