Angling With A Passion!
Los Suenos Fishing Captian Dana when asked what separates his Los Suenos Resort Charter from the competition is quick to respond, “passion.” The same passion was proven to the Costa Rica sport fishing community when Captain Dana and his 36’ Topaz Express took home the first place prize at the 2012 Quepos Billfish Championship Cup.
To truly understand how passionate Captain Dana and his Los Suenos charter crew are, you need only ask his long list of repeat customers. If the merit of a Charter can be determined by the friendships that are formed between client and crew, Captain Dana’s Topaz is clearly one of the Los Suenos Marina’s finest.
Originally from Florida, Captain Dana has made Los Suenos, host to the Annual Costa Rica World Billfish Series Championship and Los Suenos Signature Billfish Series, his home for over 22 years. These clear blue waters are his daily stomping grounds, and with the aid of 1st Mate and Costa Rica native Eric Mora, and fellow American 2nd mate, RJ Little, the Topaz Express slices the Pacific aggressively, in search of the perfect bite.
When asked what breed of fish he most wants hanging from his hook, Captain Dana again does not hesitate. “Marlin,” he insists. “It’s got to be Marlin.”
As we all know, wanting fish and catching fish are two different things. Captain Dana focuses his crew; his ship and his passion on consistently making this dream a reality. Perhaps this is why Marlin Magazine, Hook the Future and a dozen other publications and Television Shows have featured him so many times as the Costa Rica fishing expert.
With uniquely calm winds, flat seas, and a close bite - large populations of Yellow Fin Tuna, Sailfish, Rooster Fish, and huge 600-800lb Blue and Black Fin Marlin all await you just off shore from the Los Suenos charter dock. The Topaz Express, outfitted with the finest equipment on the market, stands alert and ready for the chase.
My cousin and I went on one of your fishing trips while in the area. It was a great experience. I Think I can speak for the both of us when I say it is a must try. I would go back to Costa Rica just to go fishing again. If you are a fisher then do yourself a favor and check it out. You won't regret that you did.
The fishing in Costa Rica is top notch fun. They have some of the coolest fish I have ever seen. Fishing was never as intense as when we went out on our trip. The waters are are beautiful as the fish that live within it. If the fishing wasn't good enough, the surf here is spot on. The waves are big enough to catch some perfect runs, but not too giant. will be trying out the zip lines next time I go for sure.
Last month my friends and I took a fishing tour with you guys. Everyone there was both friendly and ready to help with anything. The boat was very clean and the equipment was quality stuff. I was impressed with my trip. the water was perfect and the day couldn't have been a nicer one. I would definitely recommend the fishing trip.
