What to Expect on Your Private Jacó Off-Road Tour:
Ready to conquer the jungle? Book your custom Talon 1000X4 experience with Adventure Tours Costa Rica today and ride on your own terms.

After we pick you up from your Jaco or Los Suenos location, we’ll get you checked in at our tour headquarters. Here, you’ll gear up with premium safety equipment, go over trail etiquette and handling tips, and take a few practice runs in your TALON 1000X4 to get a feel for the machine. Built for ultimate stability, power, and shared excitement, this premium 4-seater side-by-side offers a remarkably smooth ride even over Jaco's rough terrain.
When you’re ready, we’ll head straight for the surrounding mountains that rise above Jaco, starting our climb through forest-covered hills and winding dirt tracks. Midway up the range, we’ll take a refreshing break at the scenic Zorro Waterfall—a stunning 35-foot cascade hidden deep in the jungle. While you can't swim at this waterfall because there's no pool, you'll enjoy the cool waters and the serene surroundings of Cascada del Zorro - and fear not! We'll visit a different waterfall for swimming later on.

After snapping some gorgeous pics at Zorro, we’ll climb even higher into the highlands. The mountain trails may be rugged, but the advanced suspension of your Honda TALON 1000X4 makes it easy and comfortable to access the kind of Costa Rican views few visitors ever get to see. At the mountaintop lookout, take a moment to absorb a 360-degree panorama of Costa Rica’s diverse terrain. From your vantage point, you’ll see Jaco’s coastline, the Nicoya Peninsula, and even the distant shores of Puntarenas — all framed by rainforest in every direction.
It’s a perfect moment for a bit of Zen, take a deep breath, enjoy the view, and capture a few selfies before we cruise the ridgeline toward Playa Hermosa, catching glimpses of the canopy rolling out beneath us like a living, breathing sea of green.

Our descent begins on the remote paths of La Gloria, winding down into the Tulin River Valley. The route showcases Costa Rica’s rural heart—wild landscapes, sleepy farms, and the occasional curious cow. We’ll park the TALONs and make our lunch stop in the hillside village of Mata de Platano, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Costa Rican meal served with authentic hospitality.
A delicious casado—featuring rice, beans, local vegetables, and your choice of protein—gives you the fuel you need for the second half of the day. It’s a satisfying, down-home experience in a spot few tourists ever find.

From there, we venture deeper into the countryside, winding through peaceful hamlets like Montelimar, Angostura, Pavona, and San Gabriel. These tiny villages may be quiet, but they’re rich in personality, each offering a glimpse into Costa Rica’s simple, unhurried way of life.
Eventually, we’ll reach Las Delicias, a small but lively community famous for its motorsports scene despite its tiny population. This mountain outpost draws riders from all over the region for off-road UTV and motocross events, and you’ll feel the pulse of that energy as we cruise through in our high-performance TALONs.
Our loop continues through Bijagual before we begin our final descent back toward basecamp, where your incredible Adventure Tours Costa Rica journey began.
We offer both ATVs and UTVs, (Mules or Rhinos). Our ATVs are 4-wheeled, all-terrain machines with a bar seat and handlebars. ATVs can be used with up to 2 people: a driver and a passenger sitting front to back as you would ride on a motorcycle. Our UTVs are 4-wheeled, all-terrain vehicles that are similar to a small, open-air Jeep with a roll bar, steering wheel and 4 seats. UTVs may be used with up to 4 people sitting side-by-side, (two in the front, two in the back).
No, to ride on an ATV as a passenger have to be older than 5 years old. However, you can do the tour with the infant in their car seat in a Rhino/UTV.
“Side-by-Sides” are also know as UTV’s (Utility Terrain Vehicle). These vehicles look like a cross between an ATV and a dune buggy. The driver and the passenger sit side by side which is where the name was derived. Most UTV’s also have rear seating which makes this a great option for families that want to get out and explore the rainforest.
Sorry, but no. We do have motorcycles for rent to customers with a valid motorcycle license. However, our ATVs and UTVs are available for guided tours only. We do not offer ATVs or Rhinos for private rentals outside of the tours we offer.
