Hop on your own ATV and go for a wild ride on the rainforest trails along the foot of stunning Arenal Volcano. This thrilling trip is sure to appease your inner adrenaline junkie, while also providing exciting images to post on your favorite social media accounts.
Your day begins with a friendly local pickup from your hotel or resort. After a scenic drive to a private farm located close to Arenal Volcano National Park, your adventure of a lifetime begins.
Make sure you dress for success on this excursion by choosing clothing you can get dirty. It’s sure to be a wild ride, and the rainforest trails are often muddy. If you own a GoPro, bring it with you so that you can film your thrilling adventure in first-person. If you don’t have one, simply ask your bi-lingual guide to outfit you with a camera-mounted helmet before you depart on your adventure.
After helpful instruction from your experienced guide, you are given time to become comfortable on your 4 x 4 with a few practice runs. The open field at the ATV basecamp offers plenty of space for beginners to gain confidence, or for more experienced riders to familiarize themselves with a new machine. Your instructor stays close to answer any additional questions you may have. Once you’re ready, we roll out for a wild adventure through gorgeous Costa Rican rainforests, rolling foothills and lush back-country.
Ride Through the Wilds
Along the base of Arenal Volcano, your exciting ATV tour takes you on foothill trails that delve deep into the primary and secondary rainforest. Rugged terrain, rocky hills, hairpin turns, steep inclines, bumpy paths and tumbling rivers cannot stand in your way as you splash, bounce and slide your way through an intense experience filled with adrenaline-pumping adventure.
Take a Breather – Enjoy the View
Stopping by a lookout point with incredible views of Arenal Volcano, we take a break from the action to recharge and let the full grandeur of the surrounding landscape sink in. While you set up prefect shots for your Instagram posts, your knowledgeable guide will speak on the storied past of Arenal Volcano and the quaint town of La Fortuna. It’s during these quieter times with your guide that you will become acquainted with the area’s wildlife and native plants, the diverse flora and fauna and the exotic birds and monkeys that live in the rainforest and call from the tropical canopy.
After enjoying the view, take a refreshing dip in a scenic river before resuming your journey. The banks of the river offer detoxifying volcanic mud. Rub some on and enjoy the healing properties before you head out. This natural bounty is free for all who venture here. You may want to bring a small container with you so that you might treat yourself to a mineral-rich facial once you return to your hotel. Your tour will also stop at other scenic locations including Lago de Los Lirios (Lily Lake).

Awesome tour and guide! We had a small group which was great, you spend about 2 hours give or take riding through mud puddles, hills, bumpy terrain and the rainforest. We even saw some monkeys and a sloth. Great views of the volcano too.
