The Amenities of a Vacation Home

You’ve decided on an exciting vacation adventure this year. You already have a number of activities set up. You’ve made a list of places to eat. Take the time to find an equally exciting place to stay. Instead of the typical hotel or resort, consider staying in a vacation home. After a day of fun activities, relax in your home away from home.

Live Like a Local

Hotels and resorts rarely carry the flavor of the region inside their walls. A vacation home is often decorated to match the surrounding community whether it’s a coastal getaway or savanna safari. The owners surround you with reminders of why you went there on vacation.

You will often have access to guidebooks, maps and tourist information that the owner has accumulated for your benefit. There may be restaurant menus, dining suggestions and even recommendations left by other travelers that stayed in the home.

A Place to Relax

A full day of activities when you’re on vacation can make you want to go home and put your feet up. A vacation home will give you a comfortable place to relax and reminisce about your day, and plan for the next. You’ll have all of the kitchen amenities as your own home so stock it up with drinks and snacks. Plan on a few days of eating out but save some money by fixing some meals at home. You’ll have more money for souvenirs!

More To Come Home To

Many owners of vacation homes that become popular destinations add amenities over time that would compete with the hotels and resorts. Look for homes that have a hot tub, Jacuzzi, outdoor patio for grilling and dining, big screen TVs, Blu-ray and DVD players. With extensive entertainment systems the owners may provide an assortment of movies and music as well as access to cable or satellite TV.

Your Own Private Tour Guides

Occasionally, the owners will live in a residence nearby, or make themselves available to help you have the best experience while on vacation. They will be your best resource for nearby attractions and “must see” landmarks. When you tire of the tourist activities, ask them where the locals go for entertainment. Some of your finest dining, pub and nightclub experiences may be going to where the people in the community hang out.

Get a better feel for where your vacation takes you next by staying in a vacation home. No matter what you do during the day, you’ll have a comfortable place to relax in the evening. Get a good night’s sleep and be ready to start your day refreshed and ready for more adventures!
