Welcome to the second half of September fishing report from the renowned Los Suenos Marina in beautiful Costa Rica! As we dive deeper into this rainy-season month, anglers can expect a wet and wild trip filled with thrilling fishing opportunities both inshore and offshore. In the inshore waters, we are finding an impressive array of species such as Roosterfish, Snapper, and Amberjack that will keep us reeling with excitement. Meanwhile, offshore fishing is bringing in outstanding catches, including Marlin, Sailfish, and Mahi Mahi.

Mid-Late September Fishing Weather 🌤️🌡️🔥

During the month of September, anglers visiting Los Suenos Marina in Costa Rica can expect a distinct weather pattern both on land and offshore. On land, the temperatures typically range from 79°F-88°F, offering a warm tropical environment for outdoor activities. However, it is important to note that September falls within the rainy season in Costa Rica. As a result, heavier rainfall is common, especially in the early morning and afternoon hours.

When it comes to fishing offshore, the weather conditions on the Pacific Ocean can be slightly different. The average temperatures on the water range from around 77°F-84°F. While offshore fishing trips may also experience rainfall, it typically does not impede the fishing action too much. Since it can affect our long-range visibility, during this time of year we tend to rely more heavily on our equipment to find the fish.

To make the most of a rainy season fishing trip out of Los Suenos, it’s important to be prepared. Dressing in lightweight, quick-drying clothing can help keep you comfortable. Opt for breathable fabrics such as moisture-wicking shirts and pants to stay dryer in wet conditions. You’ll want to bring some rain gear. When the fight is on, you’re not going to leave your catch because of some precipitation. If you have a suitable poncho and a tight-fitting hat, you can avoid the distraction of a sudden shower.

If you're fishing in Costa Rica during the rainy season, it's best to just embrace the weather. It is what it is. On land, rainfall makes the forests lush and beautiful, and out on the water, it can help to attract a variety of baitfish we can use to catch our prizes.
